The Church Pension Fund as investor

The strategic aim of the Church Pension Fund’s investment activities is to accumulate the assets needed to cover its pension liability in a profitable, secure and responsible manner.

As with other pension investors, the Church Pension Fund is a long-term investor, whose investments may experience significant value changes over the short term. Despite the long investment horizon, the Fund must continuously maintain sufficient control of all investment risks. The investments must be consistently allocated to different asset categories, geographical regions, fields of business, asset managers and investment methods.

The Fund is committed to carrying out responsible investment activities. As a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Fund is constantly seeking to actively develop its ownership practices and reporting on the progress of its activities. In each phase of its investment processes, the Fund endeavours to take ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) issues into account, and has, indeed, proven to be a forerunner in Finland in terms of responsible investing.
