Steering and supervision

The National Church Council has supervising authority over the Church Pension Fund. The activities of the Church Pension Fund are led by the Board of the Church Pension Fund and the Director of the Church Pension Fund as appointed by the National Church Council. The practical investment activities are the responsibility of the Church Pension Fund’s Investment Unit.

As the highest decision-making body of the Evangelical-Lutheran Church of Finland, the General Synod confirms, on an annual basis, the budget, the action and financial plan and the financial statements of the Church Pension Fund as set forth by the plenary session of the National Church Council.

Supervision of the Church Pension Fund is carried out by the Fund's auditors and the Financial Supervisory Authority. The Financial Supervisory Authority oversees the investment activities of the Church Pension Fund and issues an annual supervisory report. The Investment Unit monitors the control points for risk management and oversees the general risk management of the Church Pension Fund.

KPMG serves as the auditing firm of the Church Pension Fund.
