The Church’s mission is to proclaim to all the mercy and love of God, demonstrated through Jesus. To carry out this mission is to follow both the commandment and example of Jesus. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you” (John 20:21).
Modern missionary work includes translating the Bible into different languages, broadcasting local television and radio programmes, training new parish employees, helping those in need and working to fix the reasons behind inequity. Mission goes where the Christian faith is either unknown or little known and shares the glad tidings of Jesus.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28.18-20)
