Christians are called to welcome the stranger: the churches have a special role in highlighting injustice, advocating on behalf of migrants, addressing the social and political challenges posed by migration, promoting the benefits of diversity and encouraging hospitality.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland seeks to apply the following principles:
- Diversity and interaction enrich the expression of faith and the life of communities. Christians are called to welcome the stranger.
- Parish worship and life should seek to be inclusive, reflecting the diversity of the communities they serve.
- Parishes are called to oppose racism and discrimination.
- Parishes and their officials are called to advocacy on behalf of migrants and refugees.
