All Saints' Day

Hautakynttilät, vaakaAll Saints’ Day (red or white) is celebrated at the beginning of November by lighting candles on the graves of close relatives. This prominent festival, important to Finnish culture, is celebrated by commemorating the faithful departed.

If you have the chance, do pay a visit to the churchyard in the evening on All Saints’ Day, it’s a beautiful experience. Most Finnish families visit the churchyard that day.

The last Sunday in the Church year
(green) reminds us that Christ is the King and the Lord. On the Day of Judgement, we are called to account for our lives before God.
